BICYCLE ARTFORMS IN POWDER SPRINGS

Bike Art at the Springs – South Cobb Arts Alliance and the City of Powder Springs collaborated on a bicycle-themed public art venture made possible by a grant to the City from AARP.

SCAA was honored to be chosen for a unique community art project utilizing the creativity of both professional artists as well as middle school and high school art students.  The result was well received community art situated in a City where walking, biking and community is the focus.

The project comprises five all-steel bicycle art forms which were hand painted by artists engaged by SCAA.  The finished art forms are mounted on special bases in various parts of downtown Powder Springs.

The artwork on the bike “canvasses” were done by local artists Miles Davis, Justin Groom, and Levar Robinson and included two bikes completed by art students at Tapp Middle School and McEachern High School.  A special thanks to Mrs. Danielle Walker and Mr. Levar Robinson who guided their students through the process of designing the art and completing the work in a timely manner.

We hope the community and its visitors will enjoy this public art.  Take snapshot selfies of the art and hashtag SCAA and the City of Powder Springs.

More information about the Bike Artform Project and its beginning can be found at the Cobb Chamber of Commerce posting as well as in a previous edition of the Cobb In Focus Magazine (page6).
