An AP ART Portfolio Exhibit

McEachern Student Art Exhibit now until January 2, 2020 with a Reception at the City of Powder Springs, Community Development Building on Monday, November 18 from 5 to 7PM.

Supporting art education at every level is important to the community.  This exhibit is a display of a project with specific portfolio deadlines and criteria.  McEacheron Quality Students enrolled in the Advanced Placement Studio Art (A.P. Studio) take a year-long art course dedicated to preparing them for college-level art courses.

Upon completion of their AP Studio course, students prepare a portfolio for reading by The College Board. A passing score of 4 or higher can earn students college credit for 2D Design, 3D Design, or Drawing I courses. The selection of work featured in this exhibit comes from the “Quality” section of the AP Portfolio. Students make a total of 15-20 finished pieces during their AP Studio Course.

The majority of the images are professionally photographed and uploaded to a digital platform for evaluation by College Board AP Readers. The top 5 pieces, however, are selected, mounted, and mailed directly to the AP Readers for evaluation. These 5 pieces are deemed “Quality” and account for 40% of the overall score. Students were given 4 weeks to complete 3 different figure study/portrait pieces. The students selected their best work and mounted it themselves for this early presentation of their Quality work.

Many McEachern AP Studio Art alumni continue on to pursue art degrees in college including: the Savannah College of Art and Design, Georgia State University, Kennesaw State University, The University of Georgia, Rhode Island School of Art and Design, The Art Institute of Atlanta, and Pratt Institute and have majors in Animation, Film, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Scientific Illustration, and Industrial Design.

SCAA is privileged to continue its outreach and work with local schools and art educators.

Support the arts in our schools and take the time to visit this Exhibit.
