The Georgia Ballet
For 60 years, the Georgia Ballet has provided the community with exceptional dance performances, unparalleled dance training for all ages, and meaningful educational outreach programming in our local schools.
Combining dance and visual art- a blend of excitement – as the Georgia Ballet joins the South Cobb Arts Alliance during its annual National Juried Exhibit. SCAA is privileged to have the Georgia Ballet as an Arts Colloborative Partner at this 32nd NJE visual art exhibit with free ballet class sessions and a performance on August 17 beginning at 10am. (Class session details below.)
The resident professional company of the Georgia Ballet is made up of national and international dancers of diverse backgrounds. The company’s ever-growing repertoire of classical and contemporary works includes ballets from such masters as George Balanchine and Marius Petipa, as well as brand new choreography. These vibrant performances offer audiences of all ages exceptionally high-quality experiences.
The Georgia Ballet has played a vital role in enriching lives in the community through its “Arts in Education” community outreach programs. Their programs serve the community by providing valuable arts experiences and quality dance training to children and families of all ages, abilities, and socio-economic levels. Each of their programs strives to enlighten and educate children on the beauty and benefits of dance. These programs cultivate a love for the arts, while encouraging creative thinking, problem solving, athleticism, and healthy life styles.
At the Pat Vaughn Cultural Arts Center, the Georgia Ballet will present 2 free children’s ballet classes as well as a their Company will present excerpts from Sleepy Hollow and the Carmen Suite between classes.
REGISTRATION for free session classes is now open as the number of participants in the class is limited; please sign up in advance. Two class sessions (30 minutes) with the first for 3 to 6yr olds and the second session for 7+ ages. Suggest students wear comfortable clothes, if one has no leotards; ballet shoes are preferred, but if not available, please have children wear socks.
Venue is set up for the SCAA’s 32nd National Juried Art Exhibit with 89 pieces of art on display. As a free event there are no seating reservations as available space is limited on a first come first served basis.
