South Cobb Arts Alliance and Floyd Middle School’s Art Educators have been working together for decades to connect art, student artists, and the community. Continuing the collaboration and recognizing their spirit of art, SCAA proudly announces Floyd Middle School’s participation in with its Color Pop project.
Color Pop is an envisioned ART coloring book project for children in hospitals and at other facilities. These coloring books will feature original artwork created by students from two local schools, SCAA artists (professional as well as amateur), and other members of the community to communicate interest, good will and to raise the spirits of the recipients. The Color Pop project, by its nature, involves many different groups and individuals to succeed as it is truly a synthesis of creativity by a number of local artists, local schools and students, hospitals and other facilities along with the community.
SCAA has sponsored Floyd Middle School Arts displays earlier on and whether, before in the historic house, 1994, or now from our location in Powder Springs, it’s important to support Floyd Middle School’s art educator and to make an impact on its deserving group of talented students. Phenomenal achievements, creating visual artwork projects from a 2017 display featuring 874 student artworks compared to 230 entries in 1996, exemplify a quality arts educational program which encourages students, especially those who would normally not be driven to exceed, or collaborate in a such an art student driven community project.
Floyd Middle School’s mission and vision: Engage in “Making a Difference” (mission), and serve as part of “a community of actively engaged lifelong learners who are accountable, productive citizens” (vision).
