A NATIONAL ART EXHIBIT not to miss August 5 to 25

with panel discussions to awards and performing art programming presentations from

the Georgia Ballet,  the Georgia Symphony Orchestra as well as Whitefield Academy

SCAA’s 47th year—— an exciting national art event and agenda to celebrate the 32nd annual SCAA National Juried Exhibit.  Come see not only fabulous art, but enjoy an artist panel discussion, ballet classes and performances and the music collaboration by distringuished  Cobb County performing art organizations.  It’s bringing the arts to the community with special presentations, and performances.

NATIONAL JURIED ART EXHIBT:  Every year SCAA is gratified by the large number of entries received for its National Juried Exhibit, nearly all of which are outstanding in terms of both execution and creativity.  The NJE is a juried show adjudicated by a third party who is an accomplished artist and an art instructor with many years’ experience. The talent of our NJE applicants makes the selection process competitive and the judge’s job difficult.  The 32nd NJE will consist of 89 pieces of artwork, with selected art pieces from the 213 pieces submitted and from 24 states, including artwork from Georgia artists.

2019 theme:  America the beautiful- An Artist’s Oasis.”   America the beautiful can mean many things to artists: an oasis of landscapes from sea to shining sea, of streetscapes, of quaint villages and historic towns, to the urban and suburban views from the pavement to the skies.  And, of course, America the beautiful can be portrayed through photographs, drawings, sculpture, mixed media art, weaving, and the expressions of its people and its natural wonders.  Its oasis is where and when the artist sees the beautiful whether up close and personal or from a mountaintop.

JUROR & JUDGE:

We are honored to have Ann Cockerill as our 2019 Juror and Judge as she has the aptitude to see details and beauty in all artwork presentations. Ann Cockerill received a degree in art at LaGrange College and studied under many artists. She was commissioned by the State of Georgia to paint life size portraits of James Oglethorpe, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and Marquis de LaFayette for the newly remodeled “Old Capitol” in Milledgeville. Her painting of Kennesaw Mountain was included in the “Spirit of America Exhibition from Winslow Homer to Andrew Wyeth,” and toured throughout the nation’s museums.  She has won numerous awards including Best of Show Spirit de France Arts Festival; First Place North Wildwood Beach NJ Art Exhibition; and the Winsor Newton First Place Painting Award of the International Art Show of New Jersey. Her painting was chosen for the Atlanta Dogwood Festivals Fine Art Poster Competition.  Ann and her husband Bill, own the Red Cockerill Gallery where they exhibit their work. Ann also teaches art and creates unique custom frames for her customers at the gallery. She was voted Best Artist of Cobb County in 2019 by the readers of Marietta Daily Journal.  More about our judge and her work at www.RedCockerillGallery.com.
