ActiveGA GIVES- SUPPORT COLOR POP- an SCAA Children’s Project

SCAA Staff

COLOR POP

A pop of color, a smile or two from student artists to children in hospitals.

Color Pop is an SCAA envisioned ART project for children in hospitals and at other facilities. We have been working with the educators and community volunteers of Powder Springs and Mableton to create a publication with the artwork by students at Powder Springs Elementary and Floyd Middle School as well as our local artists.  It would be  a special coloring book.  Both schools exemplify how art educators can create great experiences and bring out talent and smiles to those students in their classrooms.

Artwork will be done by artists (professional as well as amateur), students, schools, and other organizations to communicate their best wishes and to raise the spirits of the recipients. These approximately 5,000 coloring books will be distributed to the facilities as well as to the students who created pages.

But we need your help to finalize and publish  the inaugural project.

Please consider a donation through the SCAA website or at GA GIVING.

ActiveTRANSITION: A COLORFUL EXHIBIT JOURNEY INTO ABSTRACT AND MORE

SCAA Staff

Wendy Jackson, an award winning SCAA artist and a native of South Carolina, has been painting for over 15 years. As a visual artist, she enjoys creating from her heart; where her truest and deepest feeling resides. Her art world consists of abstract art, photography, and poetry (published as “Food for the Soul”).

Among her current accomplishments:  Artwork in London, England from February 14-16 at the Parallax Art Fair. Featured artist in the Charleston Style and Design magazine. Awarded 2019 FASO BoldBrush Abstract Artist Ward for her painting Transition, which is also the title of this exhibit series.

Wendy lives life in full color. “Art allows me to express my feelings about things around us that makes us who we are. I like bringing joy to people because life can be very challenging at times. It’s amazing how a blank canvas can be transformed into a creative work that gives life and meaning to our lives.

Color is the very integral part of our lives. Symbolizes the mood of calmness in our minds, spirits and our souls. It sets the tone for our feelings, culture, tradition and religion. It also brings harmony, that is pleasing to our eyes. It is the universal language of conversation, as it brings joy, laughter, sadness, and love, and most of all peace.”

While she has taken a few art workshops, she is a self-taught artist who loves using palette knives, brushes, hand movement and other objects to creative wonderful original designs.

Come visit the artist and her artwork.  Transition Exhibit Reception will be February 29 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm with the exhibit on view until April 30.
