Active SCAA BIKE ART PROJECT in POWDER SPRINGS

SCAA Staff

BICYCLE ARTFORMS IN POWDER SPRINGS

Bike Art at the Springs – South Cobb Arts Alliance and the City of Powder Springs collaborated on a bicycle-themed public art venture made possible by a grant to the City from AARP.

SCAA was honored to be chosen for a unique community art project utilizing the creativity of both professional artists as well as middle school and high school art students.  The result was well received community art situated in a City where walking, biking and community is the focus.

The project comprises five all-steel bicycle art forms which were hand painted by artists engaged by SCAA.  The finished art forms are mounted on special bases in various parts of downtown Powder Springs.

The artwork on the bike “canvasses” were done by local artists Miles Davis, Justin Groom, and Levar Robinson and included two bikes completed by art students at Tapp Middle School and McEachern High School.  A special thanks to Mrs. Danielle Walker and Mr. Levar Robinson who guided their students through the process of designing the art and completing the work in a timely manner.

We hope the community and its visitors will enjoy this public art.  Take snapshot selfies of the art and hashtag SCAA and the City of Powder Springs.

More information about the Bike Artform Project and its beginning can be found at the Cobb Chamber of Commerce posting as well as in a previous edition of the Cobb In Focus Magazine (page6).

Art makes our communities stronger.

Expired Wilderness Photography Foundation EXHIBIT

SCAA Staff

Wilderness Photography Foundation Exhibit:  August 12 to October 1, 2023

Nature’s Generosity Photography Exhibition, a 2023-24 southeast traveling exhibit by the Wilderness Photography Foundation,  will be at the North Cobb Regional Library from August 12 to October 1.  Welcome to a remarkable exhibit featuring top photographers across the United States and featuring outstanding images of Nature’s Generosity for all of us to see.

The wilderness is truly defined within the adage “in the eyes of the beholder,“ interpreted by artists, poets, children, politicians, environmentalists, and more.   But only the photographer can capture the wilderness through the camera’s lens within a special moment of time, as the camera immobilizes the image, and shows the beauty, flaws, and wonders of the wilderness.

This exhibit is a collaboration between SCAA and the Wilderness Photography Foundation. SCAA was honored to be a part of the original group’s conversations beginnings with SCAA member artist, Mike Ramy, in featuring such an exhibit as the Nature’s Generosity Photography Exhibition.  Created by top-tier fine art nature photographers the exhibit showcases the beauty and diversity of nature, plant and animal life surrounding us and in faraway places.

Reception on August 19 from 2-4pm with Whitefield Academy Jazz Band opening the program.  Light refreshments will be served.

A special thanks and so appreciate North Cobb Regional Library for continuing to support SCAA’s public exhibits of art.

Enjoy this public exhibit, and let the visual power of photography heighten the importance about nature, conservation and the fine art nature photography.  Experience the blending of the arts with Children Book Readings activities about nature at on September 25; registration information for North Cobb Regional Library listed on SCAA website .

More information about the Wilderness Photography Foundation and the accompanying hardback book containing details of the photographers, photos and more can be found at this link.  SCAA can also be contacted regarding purchase of the books.
