"I feel it is in the heart, not the eye that should determine the content of the photograph. What the eyes see is its own, what the heart can perceive is a different matter." Gordon Parks My career has been in technology but a little over 2 years ago I picked up a camera and discovered my passion. One would think I would ease into the technical aspects of photography but it has been quite the opposite. Capturing images has provided me the expressive voice of what could be understood as my soul. There is a lot of beauty in the world and equal parts of the ugly. My intent is to capture images of my emotions to share and to spread awareness with an empathetic perspective. I've been labeled a "closet introvert and dweeb"...go figure but read the book "Quiet" and it may shed some light. I consider myself clever, not smart and I love it that way. Interests: People, Reading, Fitness, Parenting, SCUBA Diving, Vietnam History, African American History, Teaching Coloring and LAUGHTER!

A little about MRamy Images
The purpose of my photography is to capture and express the beauty of Nature that has been a major influence in my life from childhood till today. Through the years I have improved my photographic skills while developing a particular sensitivity for capturing the essential esthetics and the importance of wildlife.
Born and raised in the Atlanta, Georgia area; I have been an avid Outdoorsman, Naturalist, Scuba Diver and Award-Winning Videographer and Photographer for the better part of my life and enjoy nature with a passion. My childhood and teenage years were a great adventure, as I spent all my summers, holidays and available weekends at my Grandfather’s ranch in Ocala, Florida on the Ocklawaha River or my Great Uncle’s farm in Fort Gaines, Georgia on the Chattahoochee River. These two locations offered nature, wildlife and river life at its best. The Natural World today is shrinking at an alarming rate. Many of the locations that I explored as a teenager and young adult in the 1960’s and 1970’s are no longer the pristine natural environments that I enjoyed.
I continue my outdoor adventures to this day with photography and river exploration aboard a custom designed camera boat built for the types of waters my clients and I tour for research, scuba diving, photography, bird watching or to simply access unspoiled nature at its best. I have a working knowledge of most all the navigable rivers and lakes in the Southeastern United States. A great deal of effort, planning, expense and countless hours in the field goes into the capturing of the photos in my ‘Nature Galleries’. My photography affords me the opportunity to convey the ‘Art of Nature’ towards educational pursuits. The proceeds from the sale and use of my images and my Guided River Tours are reinvested into my conservational efforts. My Services and Galleries are available for viewing at http://www.mikieproductions.com along with additional information about my photographic journeys. Thanks for taking the time to view my body of work and for purchasing my images for your own collection. Your contribution is helping to promote the awareness and preservation of Nature for future generations.

A photograph is more than just a picture capturing an image, it is a memory that can be kept forever. My approach to every session is for my lens to capture the moment beyond the image. Every click of the shutter showcases memories that will last well beyond your photo session.
It is important for me to connect personally with my clients so that I can capture not only their beauty, but the personality in each photo. My goal is not only for my client, but those looking at the photo, to see the story behind the image. Whether it’s a personal memory of the session or the story portrayed through the life of the photograph, a LBDP photo takes you on a journey, even if just for a few minutes.
Photography has been a lifelong passion, starting in high school when I got my first camera, a Canon EF. I had my own darkroom, and after photo expeditions I developed and printed my own film and sold photography as art in local art shows on Long Island. Photography led me to a career in printing, and being recognized in the industry as a color expert gave me to opportunity to travel abroad and throughout the USA. After a successful career, printing led me back to the camera and I decided to pursue my passion by diving fully into photography. My main business is Real Estate photography and business headshots, and in one of the homes that I photographed, I spotted photographic art from a well-known photographer, and thought “I can do that.” Now I do. I have always had an eye for capturing interesting subjects, and wherever I go or have been, I always look to find “the right photo.” Now I am proud to offer fine art photography from past and current travel, from home and abroad that can be displayed and appreciated in any home. Welcome to JMAUROPHOTO Artworks. Enjoy!
Lance A. Lewin – Fine Art Photographer/Lecturer
For the most part, my inspiration from behind the viewfinder comes from a richly filled combination of studying the pioneers of photography in the mid to late 19th century and masters of the 20th century, (e.g., Julia Margret Cameron, Alfred Stieglitz, Ansel Adams, Bob Kolbrener and Nobuyuki Kobayashi for just five examples) while also studying Japanese aesthetics, art history, drawing, design, and Renaissance painters, all in the pursuit of developing my own artistic narratives.
Though a lot of my work cannot be deemed as “Straight Photography”, nonetheless, I stay clear of trends that can lead to what some refer to as hyper-reality and composite alternatives, instead, maintaining a photographic canvas that balances between modernist and pictorial aesthetics that evoke a sense of reality and authenticity.
My philosophy on teaching photography embodies photographic techniques developed, learned, and expanded in both the 19th and 20th Century, and feel should serve as the backbone to pedagogic material for students of photography in the 21st century and beyond. As such, my methodology of teaching photography is structured to embrace traditional photography skill sets and their application into the digital photography revolution.
